Some reasons why your personal prophecy might not be fulfilled

There are many people in the Christian community who doubt their personal prophecies that someone has said about their life. There are a few reasons why a personal prophecy might seem like it doesn’t come true that I can think of, and this is the topic of this article.

Things you need to do and don’t do

In many personal prophecies there are instructions from God that He wants you to follow. These can vary from person to person. To a person that God wants to use in ministry, God might say that He wants the person to spend more quality time with him. To the same person who is going to preach, God can tell that He wants the person to spend more time in God’s Word. Now if God wants to share information with the person and the person does not spend quality time with God or spend time in the Word, then the chances that God can use the person effectively in ministry are reduced. Therefore, a prophecy that says this person will be used in ministry can be frustrated.

The prophecy is delayed

God works on His own schedule, and if you’ve spent enough of your life following God, you know that He doesn’t always do things when we want Him to. A personal prophecy may seem like it is not being fulfilled when it is still a true prophecy that is simply being delayed for God’s own reasons.

One of the main reasons a personal prophecy can be delayed is that God wants to further strengthen your character before the desirable parts of the prophecy are fulfilled.

Another reason a prophecy can be delayed is as we said at the beginning: you haven’t done your part. When you finally do your part and spend quality time with God and His Word, then the prophecy could be fulfilled.

The prophet spoke his own words instead of God’s.

Sometimes when a person has a need for healing or finances or doors to open for ministry, or any need for that matter, the need of the person coming to the prophet can pull the strings of the prophet’s heart and make that the prophet speaks a word of the Lord with arrogance. The prophet may utter words in the prophecy that are not from God, but are more illusions on the prophet’s part for the person to whom he is ministering. When desired words are spoken that are not words from the mouth of God, God is not bound by honor to fulfill these words.

The flesh or an evil spirit had a part to do with the word

People who minister in the prophetic are often rejected people and therefore want to be loved and accepted more than other people. This can lead a prophetic person to speak pleasant words to people in the hope that people will like prophetic words and therefore like the person who prophesies. This practice of speaking nice words in a prophecy in addition to what God is speaking is adding meat to a prophecy. This is one of the reasons why Paul says that we must test all the prophecies and hold on to what is good.

Another way a prophecy can be wrong is if a false spirit spoke through the prophet. This has happened through me to one person, so I know this is possible. It is important to give a prophet feedback on his prophetic word. I never knew this was possible until a person gave me their opinion and told me that the prophecy made her want to give up her Christian faith.

So, as we’ve covered, there are a few reasons why prophecies may seem like they’re not being fulfilled in your life. I hope you have learned something.
