Vitamins that are made in China vs. the US
If your vitamins were sourced and manufactured in China, they are certainly cheaper than vitamins made in the US, why? That said, what is the true cost of these vitamins from China? How is it that Chinese manufacturers can source their ingredients, pay their workers, cover all production costs, ship the finished product on a ship that takes six weeks to reach our shores, and then price them, on average, a 25% lower than US? made supplements? Why would you spend $28 on a product when you could buy it for $12?
Efficiency is the answer. Efficiency is the power to produce the desired effect or intended result. You can buy the cheapest vitamins on the market, but if they don’t work, money is wasted, your health may be at risk, and you can definitely suffer from taking these Chinese vitamins. This is not a scare tactic, just information as to why we would never buy any ingredients from China to make our vitamins.
FACT: More than half of all American adults are taking vitamins and supplements. Most, if not all, are unaware that they are ingesting vitamins made in China or made with ingredients derived from China.
FACT: The leading vitamin exporting province, Zhejiang, has an alarming level of heavy metal contamination in the soil.
FACT: China’s irrigation water is a complete nightmare: More than half of the country’s major water bodies are polluted, as are 86 percent of city water bodies. The contamination is largely caused by the many factories in the country, which very rarely have equipment to deal with this contamination. 70 to 80 percent of the country’s industrial waste is dumped directly into rivers every day.
While supplements are not regulated by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration/Vitamins), vitamins manufactured in the US must comply with FDA – GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) to receive their seal of validation that appears on the label. FDA representatives make unannounced visits to manufacturing plants like ours, touring facilities, inspecting cleanliness standards, verifying labels, and documenting source ingredients.
