Self-Improvement Goals: Why A “Dedication To The Truth” Is So Important

One of the most common things known to mankind is broken resolution. The plain truth regarding our self-improvement goals is that we are defeated or victorious at the level of the mind. The will is the most important device that acts for the heart as we move towards achieving our goals. However, it is the heart (which generates the moral impulse) that informs the will.

The fact of a ‘dedication to the truth’ as a pillar of walking the narrow path of true success in life is attributable to Mr. Scott Peck of Wisdom of the road less traveled famous. Therefore, it is no secret that when we dedicate ourselves to the truth we can live much more successfully, but it must be recognized: it is contrary to the world. We meet few friends here.

The truth is a lonely journey. If we can accept this, we can achieve all our goals. Let me illustrate more.

My method of self-improvement is primarily through goal setting for habit renewal. The longer I can master a pure habit (to replace an old bad habit), the better my chances of eventual success.

My particular approach, the one that works best for me, is the one day at a time approach where I make a mark on each day, counting each day of successful incorporation of the goal idea. I make this mark in my journal as a mini-hit.

However, I have noticed something that is so relevant to my human nature: my passion for the goal fades and the effectiveness of my intensity falls… I, sometimes… many times, have dropped the ball and come back to the old habit. Diet is the main area I struggle with in this way. (The mind’s approach to quitting smoking, drinking and all other bad habits and most addictions share the same pathology).

But then I realized that if I dedicate myself to the truth and am training myself to live truthfully (even/especially even in the little things) I can do this with open will, without ever compromising one bit. a little. We have to be honest with ourselves, even at the level of our consciousness.

The mind is a tricky thing. He has such power at the starting blocks. Then, as the race progresses, we get a little comfortable and our minds tell us that it would be okay to make compromises… but, using the commitment to truth that strengthens the heart, we can strengthen the waning will.
