Self-defense weapons: what is the best weapon for self-defense?

If you are considering buying a gun or other “self-protection” device such as a pepper spray or an alarm, you are obviously concerned about your personal safety. You know what it is essential to learn to defend yourself, now more than ever! Today, you not only have to worry about criminals, but also terrorists! What is this world for? Would you know what to do?

You may be thinking, “Well, I’ll just get a gun!” Unfortunately, real-world testing has shown that, in general, weapons (or other “self-defense” products) are often ineffective when it comes to self-defense. Why?

There are many contributing factors, but the main reason weapons are ineffective is that the weapon is not in your hand at the time of the attack, you will never have a chance to use it! But the law does not allow you to walk around with a gun in hand, and most studies show that people soon forget to carry the various types of self-protective devices they buy with them.

Even if you have a stun gun or pepper spray in your purse or pocket, if it catches you off guard, you won’t have a chance to get it out before the cover is put on! Mace is of no use to you if it’s still in the bag that was just snatched from your hand! Tests show that 90% of the time, you will never have a chance to reach for your weapon before you hurt yourself too much to use it.

FBI statistics and police reports from around the country show that in more than half of all cases in which the victim was able to access a “weapon” (aerosols are usually mentioned), the attacker took it away from the victim. hand before I could use that. Police files are filled with tens of thousands of incidents of weapons that were taken from the victim and used against him. It is estimated that almost a third of all shooting victims are shot with their own handgun! The numbers are even higher when it comes to stun guns and aerosols.

This does not even include all incidents where the victim shoots herself! Accidental discharge is the leading cause of gunshot wounds in crime and non-crime reports. You may think that wouldn’t happen to you, but reports show that it happens even to experienced gun owners.

I know of a police officer, even after extensive training, the first time he tried to use Mace against a rogue suspect, he ended up getting sprayed.

Unfortunately, most people have little or no training in the safe and proper use of the weapons they own. Improper or even improper training is the leading cause of accidental shocks involving guns, stun guns, and aerosols. What do you think will happen when they try to use that weapon under the stress of a real attack?

There are literally millions of reported incidents where the victim was unable to operate the weapon at all, mainly due to improper training! Owners often overlook even the most basic principles of gun use. The figures are impressive (pun intended) for the number of incidents of stun guns not working when needed due to depleted batteries!

There are thousands and thousands of reports of weapons that did not fire because the safety was activated and the user did not know, forgot or was too scared to realize it in time. In at least one incident that I am aware of, the victim was unable to make his gun fire before the criminal took it from him. Luckily for him, the criminal couldn’t understand it either.

Defective or fraudulent products

I am sure you have purchased products that did not work as advertised. How can you be sure that the pepper spray you buy will work as well as advertised, if it does? How will you prove it? Spray yourself? Spray a friend? We are not talking about perfume! I doubt you will get volunteers to help you.

When the criminal attacks, it’s too late to find out that the pepper spray is actually just vinegar, or that the 10-million-volt stun gun doesn’t produce much more of an impact than shuffling across the carpet and tapping a doorknob. .

If you buy a police radar detector that is guaranteed to work, but doesn’t, the result is a speeding ticket. If you buy “self-protection weapons” that don’t work, the result can be serious injury or even death. Relying on someone else’s guarantee is just a false sense of security that will only have bad results!

If you are serious about self-protection, your best self-defense weapon is your mind. If you think about what we just discussed, you will realize that ‘weapons’ will only help you in ideal situations, and even then, you must have a clear head to be able to use them correctly.

But crime doesn’t happen in ideal situations!

Being able to think clearly and know what to do is your best weapon when it comes to self defense. The second best thing is being able to use your feet. That doesn’t mean you start kicking! It means that at the first sign of trouble, you should RUN! Escaping is always a much better self defense tactic than getting into a fight or a fight.

However, if hypocrisy stay away, your body is your best self defense weapon! Since you cannot always have a weapon in hand, it is essential that you know how to defend yourself. without weapons. But waving mindlessly against an attacker is of no use to you. You need to learn the most vulnerable points of the human body. But even that is not enough if you do not know the most effective ways to attack them. You need to learn excuse me kick, not just where to kick.

Everyone should take at least a basic self defense course.

What about martial arts?

Traditional martial arts are great for disciple, self-confidence, and exercise. They can help produce the correct mindset needed when faced with a self-defense situation. But it usually takes several years to master the more complex techniques.

If you have the time to commit to a long-term training program, of course a martial art will provide the most comprehensive training. However, just like choosing a self defense weapon, you should do your homework before choosing a martial arts program. Many do not provide the comprehensive training they promise and most do not train you for realistic self defense.

Too many martial arts programs focus heavily on sports and competition. Sports and competition-oriented martial arts are useless as self-defense. They teach you to follow the rules and, for the most part, there are no rules in a street fight. If you are conditioned to follow the rules, you cannot do what is necessary in a dangerous situation. In fact, he will probably do the wrong thing and injure himself or even kill himself.

Look for a training program that focuses almost exclusively on realistic self-defense scenario training.

Knowing how to handle yourself when faced with violence is your only insurance against becoming a victim, or just another statistic in a police report. You have car insurance, home insurance, life insurance, medical insurance …

What insurance do you have against being the victim of a violent crime? This type of insurance is only available through proper training. A long-term self-defense program offers the most comprehensive training and therefore the best opportunity to learn how to handle almost any situation that may occur. However, if you don’t have the time to commit to a long-term program, at least some form of unarmed self-defense training is better than nothing.

Summary

If you are serious about self-protection, the best thing you can do is learn self-defense without weapons first. Then if you still want to buy a gun, do your homework before choosing the best gun for you, and don’t just read the instructions that came with it and think you’re ready to go.
