How to save money on long distance phone bills

I found that the best way to cut the cost was to cancel the long distance portion of my phone service and buy a calling card and keep it by the phone. Now I save a total of about $12 a month. If you’ve looked closely at your recent long distance phone bill, you may have noticed that the rate has increased.

You may also want to consider using a prepaid long distance calling card. If you only make occasional long distance calls, a prepaid card offers an alternative to the high cost of the long distance portion of your phone bill and can save you money. You pay up front and can buy a certain amount of long distance minutes.

I searched for the best and lowest calling card available, the best prepaid phone card deals have no hidden fees, offer an auto-recharge option, have US rates less than 3 cents per minute, low international rates, and round up your calls the next minute.

The site I found has a great variety of calling cards, it accepted PayPal so I avoided using my credit card and at the bottom of the page was a link for an affiliate program I could use to save an extra 16% on the cost of calling cards

They also offer Cellular prepaid cards that I can buy at a discount and also save the extra 16%,
I am now paying less than $6 a month for my cell phone, a huge savings from the $24 I was paying.
