Forgotten Sega Genesis games from the past

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since I got my Sega Genesis. Things have come a long way since then, but that doesn’t stop Sega from maintaining the classic status it still deserves today.

Sega’s Genesis lived up to the Nintendo Entertainment System, which changed the way the world played games and brought an accessible system to the mainstream.

The Genesis had 16-bit graphics, double that of the NES’s 8-bit system. This marked an improved quality of graphics and the ability to enjoy more complex gameplay.

One very memorable game was Altered Beast, which came with many consoles when it was purchased. This was an RPG where you fought creatures while progressing through many different levels.

The movement present in the game was clearly superior to that of Nintendo, and it was a great introduction to the next generation of gaming consoles.

Another classic game was Streets of Rage, which was a street fighting game where you roamed the streets of dangerous neighborhoods to rescue people in threatening situations.

You had a few different fighters to choose from, each with different strengths. Also, there were weapons you could pick up along the way, giving you an advantage when fighting.

Last but not least is my favorite sports game on console. NBA Jam was an offbeat basketball game that brought an arcade-like feel into the mix.

This brilliant basketball game was played in a two-on-two format, giving you the chance to perform dunks and acrobatic jumps, as well as set fires. It was all extremely fun, and the game at the time was more advanced than anything we’ve seen before.

Oh the warm memories all these games bring back!
