Delfines Beach, Cancun

Playa Delfines, or Dolphins Beach, is without question and literally one of the highest points in Cancun. It is located about 18 km inside the Hotel Zone and is close to Punta Nizuc. This beach begins where Kukulcan Blvd curves into a hill. Since Playa Delfines is a high point in Cancun, the view from here is truly unforgettable. I was lucky enough to enjoy this beach on a clear day, which meant that I was able to enjoy an impressive view. I was able to see several different shades of blue in the water and coral reefs. Of course, this can only be visible on clear days. Remember that if you are in Cancun, walking along this beach is a must.

While I was in Cancun, I remember that some tourists commented on the small size of the beaches in front of their hotels. Well, for those who want a wider strip of beach, I say, hop on the bus and come to Playa Delfines. Since there are no hotels in the immediate vicinity, this beach offers a secluded spot well suited for sunbathing. However, be aware that the currents can be treacherous, especially for swimming. It is important to take into account the color of the flag placed on the beach, remember that a green flag means that it is safe to swim.

I was amazed at the amount of sand on the beach; Playa Delfines had an unsurpassed amount of beautiful white sand. Also, this is a hot spot for surfers, and in fact, Playa Delfines is one of the few places where you can take surf lessons. By the way, I can’t fault my surf instructor. He is by far one of the most patient instructors I have ever met!
