Touring Tires Versus All-Season Tires: What Are The Differences?

Whenever you start looking for new tires for your particular vehicle, you will quickly notice those that are classified as touring tires and those that are for all seasons. So what is the difference between the two? Is one better than the other? Here are the answers to these and some other questions you may have.

Touring tires

Only a few years ago, tire manufacturers introduced this style. They are not the same as their all-season counterparts. Instead, they have been developed to provide a level of comfort and performance that is a step up from a normal radial model.

They generally offer much better high-speed handling and a smoother ride. As a side note, they may not be classified as a high performance tire, but they do provide much better traction in rain or winter weather conditions.

You will find touring tires on many of your luxury cars, minivans, and SUVs. If you drive a lot on the road, this may be the best solution. Although slightly more expensive, they have excellent tread wear and most have 60,000 to 80,000 mile warranties.

All season tires

This style of tire has been around for many years. They have a unique “all-weather” tread design that gives you the best in handling and riding all year round, regardless of the weather conditions. If you live in areas that see a lot of rain, snow, and ice, this might be your best option.

The all-season single-radial tread is designed with more grooves to keep water away on rainy or sleet roads while rolling comfortably on dry pavement.

Although not built for performance style handling and cornering, these tires are a favorite with most drivers.

Which tire is the best?

Honestly, each one has its own unique characteristics and market. I can’t say that one is really better than the other under certain conditions. It really comes down to where you live, what type of vehicle you have, and how you drive it.

If you live in an ever-changing climate, the all-season model is for you. If you are looking for more comfort and performance on the road, the Touring is an excellent choice.
