Hamilton seeks world title, Alonso cries unfairly

With a Formula One race victory finally under his belt, rookie McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton’s confidence received a much-needed boost. After just six races into his fledgling Formula One career, the young British driver took his first win at the Canadian Grand Prix. He now leads the drivers’ championship with 48 points, eight points clear of his teammate, two-time defending champion Fernando Alonso.

With his victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, Hamilton strengthened his grip on the drivers’ championship lead. Going into the Canadian Grand Prix, he shared the qualifying lead with his teammate. However, after the race, he leads Alonso after the latter only finished in seventh place securing just a couple of points.

His stellar performance in this year’s Formula One season has led pundits to speculate that Hamilton is on his way to challenge Alonso’s bid for three consecutive championships. To himself, Hamilton is apparently looking for the biggest prize in his profession. “Obviously the dream now is to win the world championship,” says Hamilton after winning the race.

“But for now we have to be realistic and I think it’s always good to keep in mind that I’m still a rookie, this is my first season and there are going to be tough times,” he says. “I hope not, but it’s likely to happen, that’s the way it is.”

“There will be good days and there will be bad days, but at the moment I am quite consistent and that is due to the team and the fact that I have a very well-established family and that is perfect,” he says more.

Hamilton’s driving skills have been demonstrated at the Monaco Grand Prix, which is one of the toughest races of the season with its hairpin turns and narrow track. At the Canadian Grand Prix, Hamilton showed his makeup. There have been a number of restarts during the race due to accidents on the tracks, including the horrible crash involving BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica. Through these restarts, Hamilton’s lead dwindled to nothing, but the young driver showed his composition by performing well on every restart en route to his first win of the season and his young Formula 1 career. One.

Meanwhile, his teammate Alonso says his team favors the young driver. “From the first moment I was not entirely comfortable. I am in an English team, with an English teammate, who is doing great”, says the Spaniard. “We knew that all the support and help would follow his way. It’s something I understand and I’m not complaining,” added Alonso.

While Hamilton’s win acts as a turn signal indicating where McLaren will be in the future, Alonso is confident he has what it takes to defend his crown he won while still at Renault. “I’ve won two races out of six and I’ve finished on the podium four times and I have those 40 points that will allow me to fight for the title at the end,” Alonso said.

“But I am second in the championship, I am eight points behind. It would be worse if he was at Renault, at Honda or at any other team. At the moment I am where I expected to be and with clear options to win ”. win the title in Brazil (the last race of the season), and not now, in the sixth race”.
